Man-Thing in Fear Comic Art

Marvel’s Man-Thing character starred in issues #10-19 of the title “Adventures into Fear” before getting his own book in 1974. I just finished reading those issues and I’m now starting on Man-Thing series one (1974). I thought I would share scans of two of my favorite covers from the Man-Thing Fear issues as well as some of the great interior art. As always click on the large “thumbnails” below to load much larger high resolutions versions. Enjoy!

Fear12-JimStarlin-RichBuckler

From Fear #12 art by Jim Starlin, inks by Rich Buckler. I over did it a bit with Photoshop trying to bring out the blacks & color on this one. I’m not 100% happy with the result.

Marvel “Living Mummy” house ad -1973

1973-house-ad0004

I scanned another great old Marvel House Ad. This one is from 1973. I’m not at all sure who the artist is. Click the rather large “thumbnail” above to load a nice 1365×2048 version. And if you know who should get the artist credit for this feel free to let me know!

Top 100 Comicbook Covers – #01

Click the cover below to load a super high-resolution 1322×2048 version:

001-Uncanny X-Men-141-John Byrne

Number 01:

Uncanny X-Men #141 (Marvel – 1980)

Cover art by John Byrne
Inked by Terry Austin

Finally we reach number 01 in my Top 100 Favorite Comic Cover count-down! This truly is my favorite cover ever. It’s a desperate and dramatic scene as a spotlight is shined on the mutant fugitives Wolverine and Kitty Pryde. The Days of Future Past storyline is a fantastically dark SCI-FI X-Men tale and this iconic image is like a beautiful movie poster for it. It will be nice if the new movie version is even half as good!

Just because the count-down is complete doesn’t mean my frequent posting of high rez scans is over. Not at all. I plan to continue with more covers, mini-reviews, interior panel scans and more! So please check back often.
