Time for another Sunday Scan. This cover scan is Marvel Spotlight #28 (1976). The art is by Don Perlin. This issue is the first solo appearance of Doug Moench’s enigmatic Moon Knight character. Once dismissed simply as Marvel’s answer to Batman, Moon Knight was later (in his own series in 1980) revealed to be a very original concept with multiple personalities/identities and a quasi-mystical origin. He is one of my all-time favorite characters and this issue with it’s bold iconic cover holds a special place for me on a personal level. One of my earliest comic collecting memories dates back to sometime in the late 70’s when I was a little kid. My Aunt Dee took me to a little “Junk Shop” that was walking distance from her house. I remember the store having a hodgepodge of unrelated used items from old radios to romance paperbacks and of course comics. Oddly enough painted on the glass in front was the words: “Pyramid Electronics”. Anyway she let me pick out a pile of comics from a 10 cent box. Most of these comic-books were a few years old and among them I managed to find some real gems including several Werewolf By Night issues and this Marvel Spotlight.
