098-Ultimate Spider-Man-66-Mark Bagley

Number 98:

Ultimate Spider-Man #66 (Marvel – 2004)

Cover art by Mark Bagley
Colors by Richard Isanove

In my opinion Mark Bagley is one of the top 10 Spider-Man artists of all time. Ultimate Spider-Man #66 features his take on Wolverine. I love the way he’s leaping up behind Spider-Man in front of a full moon. Richard Isanove’s colors really pop here too.

Top 100 Comicbook Covers – #99

The count-down of my 100 favorite comic covers continues. Did you miss #100? It’s here. Now for #99 presented in a “Retina-Ready” format. Just click on the rather large thumbnail below to load a 2,048 pixel height version.

099-Shogun Warriors-19-Herb Trimpe

Number 99:

Shogun Warriors #19 (Marvel – 1980)

Cover art by Herb Trimpe

A lot of fan-boys my age remember their beloved Mattel Shogun Warrior toys and I had those too…but when I think Shogun Warriors I remember the short-lived but crazy fun Marvel comic. This cover by the tragically under-rated Herb Trimpe has a fantastic angled perspective that emphasizes the huge size of the Shoguns. Good stuff. Come back tomorrow night for #98.

Top 100 Comicbook Covers – #100

I’m going to rescan many (eventually all?) of my comic collection’s cover images in “Retina Ready” resolutions and High Quality settings with low compression. See here for the technical specs:

http://lrpctechblog.com/comic-books/cover-scanning-in-the-retina-age/

So I decided to share my Top 100 here -one cover per post as I have time. I’ll try to do at least one a day. This is in count-down style starting with 100 and working my way up to my number one favorite of all time. Now do understand I only considered books that are already indexed and scanned in my current collection as of right now. Many great books are NOT yet part of the 5,000 or so I currently have covers scanned for.

100-X-Treme X-Men-35-Salvador Larroca

Number 100:

X-Treme X-Men #35 (Marvel Comics – 2004)

Cover art by Salvador Larroca
Colors by Liquid!

(Click the thumbnail to load a High Quality 2,048 pixel height version)

This is a great example of Larroca’s stuff where they colored directly over his pencils with NO INKING whatsoever! Awesome and clean. I like the black costumes….Storm is rocking the short hair and Rogue is sexy and confident. What’s not to like? Check back tomorrow night for #99.
