Spell of the Sea Witch!

I’m starting to read my Man-Thing collection now beginining with the characters appearances in Adventures into Fear. I just finished issue #10. It has a couple of odd little Twilight Zone like back-up stories and one of them had some very striking art that I just couldn’t identify and the names in the credit box seemed like obvious pseudonyms. The story is “The Spell of the Sea Witch!!” and the credit box lists: Allyn Brodsky as writer, “Jay Hawk” as artist and “Black Bill” as inker. A quick Google brought up this wonderful blog post over at Diversions of the Groovy Kind:

Bring on the Back-ups: “The Spell of the Sea-Witch!!”

In this post from 2011 it is revealed that “Jay Hawk”= Jack Katz & “Black Bill” is the legendary Bill Everett! No wonder I found the art so striking and a bit familiar.
