Welcome to what I hope is the first in a new tradition. Every Sunday I will post a different comic cover scan in my highest quality format HQ-3000. Today’s scan is 1981’s Brave & the Bold #176 by the great Michael Kaluta. Click the “thumbnail” above to load a 1928×3000 pixel version.

Johnny & Zsaji Cloud Kiss

I’m reading (rereading) the original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars (1984) and in #6 there is the above striking panel showing Johnny Storm (Human Torch of the Fantastic Four) & alien healer Zsaji kissing in the clouds. I thought it was awesome. I scanned it and punched the color up as best as I could in Photoshop. Since this was just a panel (of a 5 panel page) this is as big as it gets while still looking fairly sharp. Pencils by Mike Zeck & inks by John Beatty. Original coloring by Christie Scheele.
